My New Boyfriend

Having a baby is like getting a new boyfriend. Here's why:
  • When you first meet, there is all kinds of nervous anticipation. Does he like me? Do I like him? Damn he's cute!
  • You can't wait for your friends to meet him
  • You're nervous about taking him home
  • You suddenly realize you haven't seen any of your friends in months because your spending all your time with him
  • Even though he seems very clingy you think it's kind of cute
The first time Quin peed on my leg I knew we were in a committed relationship. Now we're in the long term part of the relationship where we fart in front of each other and it's funny not embarrassing. Ok, it's still embarrassing to Joe, but Quin and I are over it!

Drama King

Teething has definitely put a damper on our fun these days. Quin has regressed to waking up every 2-3 hours at night and being miserable for hours at a time during the day. He insists on chewing on his hands 24/7 and hates every teething ring I have tried.

Today I carried him around the house for over an hour singing every show tune and Disney song I could think of. Quin normally favors the songs from Oklahoma and, my personal favorite, Big Spender, but today he was more in the mood for Pete's Dragon and Sleeping Beauty.

Yesterday we went to visit his friend, Aydin, and Quin got the prize for crankiest baby in the room. Quin did enjoy playing with some different toys, though I don't think Aydin shared his enthusiasm. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure Aydin will be mad when he goes to bite on his little red bird and realizes that Quin has drooled all over it!
Aydin is 2 weeks older than Quin and already knows how to roll over. Here Quin is saying "tell me how to roll over or I'll bite you with my only tooth!" Aydin's not scared though because he can roll away and Quin can't catch him. Unless Quin is on his left side and then he's screwed. Alright I need to get a life...and a full night of sleep!

First Tooth

Quin cut his first tooth yesterday during the football game. I'm always telling people what a good baby he is and then when I have a bunch of people over to watch the game, he has the most miserable day of his little life. Oh well, even for a bad day it wasn't that bad and by 8:30 or so he was fine again.
Joe and I took him out Saturday to run errands and we stopped in the party store to check out costumes. They didn't have the lobster one but they had a monkey costume, as you can see. It used to drive me nuts when my mom would make me try on things in the middle of a store and there I was doing it to my own kid. Figures. Anyhow, cute as my little sleeping monkey may be, I wasn't in love with the costume. Joe wasn't in love with me putting things on his head and taking pictures in the party store, either. Luckily, he was next door at the Verizon store so he couldn't stop me!
